After Eight Months, Destiny Rings Is Finally Live on the App Store

Eight months ago, Destiny Rings was just an idea.

Really, it was a question:

What if meeting someone in real life felt as effortless as a new match notification, but without sacrificing genuine connection?

After countless late nights, generations of prototypes, rejections, and debugging sessions, I'm pleased to finally say:

This Was Never Just About Building an App

People often imagine startups as that one big breakthrough moment. But as Jeff Bezos says, it takes years to become an overnight success. No one sees the slog behind the scenes that amount to tangible success. The app is only one component of Destiny Rings but honestly, probably not even the most technically complex one. However, it isn’t as easy as it sounds.

It's fixing bugs after a full day of work. It's watching App Store reviews come back with new issues after you thought you covered every base. It's redesigning features because they don’t fit Apple’s strict criteria. It's rewriting code that nobody will ever notice. It's wondering if anyone besides you believes in the vision as much as you do.

For the past eight months, that was my routine. I'd finish my 9-5, come home, and spend every evening and weekend building. There were some nights I’d make huge progress. Some nights I’d make virtually none. And some nights I’d actually break something and set myself back.

At the end of the day, that’s the life you choose when you embark on the founder journey.

More Than Just a Simple “App Review”

Seeing "Ready for Sale" wasn't simply another notification- it represented the months and months of iteration and debugging.

The app went through several review cycles, each one revealing something else that needed attention. From technical issues to review requirements and edge cases that only showed up when Apple tested it in their own sandbox.

There were moments where it felt like every fix I made uncovered another obstacle. I was almost scared to fix something, thinking it would only cause a domino effect of dozens more. But ultimately, I learned about all the tiny nuances and variables that you have to look at when it comes to the user experience. Things as big as the app crashing or as small as a missing back button all matter equally.

The Mission Remains the Same

Despite the App Store release milestone, my goal has never been to build another app that competes for more screen time. Destiny Rings is designed to minimize looking at your phone. Beyond setting up your profile and preferences, your phone should stay in your pocket while your ring and your smile do all of the talking.

Over the past several years, technology has become something that catches and keeps our attention. I think it should become better at giving it back.

Getting into the App Store isn't the finish line. It's the starting line.

The challenge ahead is exponentially harder:

Building something that people actually want.

Over the coming months, my focus shifts toward growing the community, learning from early users, improving the experience, and proving whether this idea can make meeting people feel natural again. There will undoubtedly be more bugs. More pivots. More hard times. And hopefully, a lot more stories to tell on the other side.
